OUR SERVICES

What EMDR Is
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process overwhelming or traumatic experiences.
When something distressing happens, the images, emotions, thoughts, and body sensations can become “stuck,” making it feel like the event is still happening.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they become less distressing and stored in a healthier, more adaptive way using gentle bilateral stimulation.
How EMDR Works
EMDR follows an 8-phase structured treatment that includes history taking, preparation, identifying target memories, reprocessing, and installing positive beliefs.
Preparation includes grounding and emotional safety tools such as Calm/Safe Place, Container Technique, Resource Development & Installation (RDI), and Ally exercises.
During reprocessing, clients focus on a memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, allowing the brain to naturally reduce distress and create adaptive healing.

What EMDR Helps With
EMDR is effective for reducing distress related to:
• Trauma and PTSD
• Anxiety and depression
• Emotional dysregulation
• Negative self-beliefs
• Childhood trauma
• Distressing past events
• Future-oriented fears (Flashforward Procedure)
• Complex symptoms and chronic stress
Research shows EMDR as a first-line treatment for PTSD and effective across all ages, including clients with complex behavioral health needs.
